Man Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Killing Wife In Lagos

A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has sentenced a man, Sulaiman Olalekan to death by hanging for the murder of his significant other, Mrs Chika Egbo on November 20, 2012 for a situation of aggressive behavior at home.

The convict (Olalekan), on the critical day, had poured corrosive on his Wife, having gotten to be overpowered by the way that the expired backpedaled to prostitution against his best guidance.

Trial judge, Justice Lawal Akapo, in his judgment, indicted Olalekan for the murder of his better half and sentenced him to death as needs be.

After the tragic rate which brought about the inevitable demise of the casualty, Chika, and in accordance with the zero resilience stance of the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-drove organization on issues of abusive behavior at home, the Lagos State Government through the State's Ministry of Justice had assumed control over the indictment of the case and documented vital procedures in court.

Olalekan supposedly met the expired at Signal Hotel in Ijeshatedo territory of Lagos State, where they began a relationship that brought about marriage.

It was after the marriage that Olalekan got her a second hand Volkswagen Bus and paid her school charges at the Enugu College of Education.

Be that as it may, the expired apparently reneged on her dedication to the relationship by coming back to prostitution, which made Olalekan acquire corrosive from a battery charger in Ikotun zone of the State and misleadingly welcomed her to visit with his mom on the said day when he poured crude corrosive on the perished.

The casualty was conceded at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for crisis restorative treatment, where she in the end kicked the bucket.

Equity Akapo, in touching base at his judgment, said he trusted that the murder of Chika Egbo by Olalekan was planned.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Adeniji Kazeem, who was the lead indicting Counsel, in his response to the judgment, expressed gratitude toward the Court for an all around considered discipline.

He stated: "Today's judgment is a triumph in our battle against abusive behavior at home and a triumph for abusive behavior at home casualties."

Representative Ambode, it would be reviewed, had promised to make Lagos awkward for culprits of aggressive behavior at home when he drove an All-Male Walk against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) toward the end of last year.
